Description
Main Purpose of Job:
Responsible for preparing accurate quotations while also engaging with customers to secure new business. This roles bridges engineering knowledge and sales, requiring the ability to interpret technical requirements, price work competitively and build strong customer relationships.
Key Duties:
Estimating and Technical
• Review customer enquiries, RFQ’s, drawings and specifications
• Liaise with production team to determine manufacturing feasibility and suggest alternatives to the customer as appropriate
• Liaise with suppliers and sub-contractors to source appropriate and cost effective materials and sub-contract processing to meet customer specifications
• Prepare accurate quotations
Sales & Customer Interaction
• To act as a key point of contact with customers during the enquiry stage
• To follow up quotations to maximise the conversion of quotation to order
• To build relationships with new and existing customers
• To identify opportunities for additional work with new and existing customers
• To attend customer meetings
Commercial
• To ensure quotations meet company markup targets
• To negotiate pricing where required
• To support the company sales strategy
• To monitor competitor and market activity
Key Competencies:
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes
• Commercial awareness and pricing knowledge
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Proficiency in excel and ERP/CRM systems
• Previous experience quoting in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and relationship building skills
• Commercially minded and results driven
• Detail-orientated with a high level of accuracy
• Good time management and organisational.
