Description

Role Overview:
An opportunity has arisen for an Interim HR Officer to provide temporary cover within the HR team due to a staff absence. This full-time position (37 hours/week) is available for an immediate start, with an initial contract expected to last through to the end of October, with the possibility of extension depending on the return of the substantive postholder. The Interim HR Officer will primarily focus on supporting recruitment processes and managing routine HR responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment Support:

  • Assist managers with the preparation of vacancy documentation.
  • Coordinate the logistics of interview processes, including scheduling and communication with candidates.
  • Serve as a panel member during interviews, ensuring adherence to fair recruitment practices.

HR Service Delivery:
Provide a professional HR service in line with the organisation’s People Strategy, focusing on recruitment and operational support during this interim period.

Absence Monitoring:
Track and document staff absences, ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance with organisational procedures.

Policy and Procedure Guidance:
Offer advice on HR policies and procedures, particularly in relation to recruitment and absence management.

Collaboration with HR Team:
Work closely with the HR Business Partners and other team members to maintain a seamless HR service, particularly in recruitment and routine operations.

Data Management:
Maintain and update relevant staff data and tracking systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Qualifications and Attainments:

  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (Essential).
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or working towards (Essential).
  • Degree-level qualification (Highly Desirable).

Training, Experience, and Knowledge:

  • Proven experience in a busy HR environment, particularly in recruitment (Essential).
  • Strong knowledge of people management practices, including recruitment processes (Essential).
  • Experience in providing HR advice and support to managers (Essential).
  • Familiarity with absence monitoring and documentation (Desirable).
  • Experience in Further Education or a related sector (Desirable).

Personal Skills and Attitudes:

  • Displays initiative, enthusiasm, and a positive approach (Essential).
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks (Essential).
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems (Essential).

Salary: c. £27,000 per annum.
