Have you always wanted to support children and young people affected by domestic abuse – but unsure how to start?

This is a unique opportunity to begin a meaningful career supporting families and young people impacted by domestic or sexual abuse. You’ll receive full training and work towards a Level 4 Domestic and Sexual Abuse Support Worker qualification, preparing you for long-term careers in roles such as:

  • Children & Young People Domestic Abuse Support Worker

  • Refuge Support Worker

  • Outreach Support Worker

  • Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA)

  • Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA)

  • Specialist Support Worker for Black and Minoritised Groups

About the Role

This position is based within a supportive and dedicated community team focused on helping children and young people recover from the effects of domestic abuse. Your work will be child-centred, trauma-informed, and creative.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building supportive, trusted relationships with children and young people

  • Delivering 1:1 and group sessions using age-appropriate, engaging methods

  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and promoting healthy family relationships

  • Working collaboratively with parents/carers, encouraging recovery as a family unit

  • Completing risk assessments and support plans that reflect individual needs

  • Working in a way that is inclusive, safe, and sensitive to diverse backgrounds

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to have all the experience – full training is provided. But if you have a genuine passion for working with young people and making a difference, we’d love to hear from you. Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Some experience supporting families through safeguarding or child protection processes

  • Confidence in engaging with children and young people, including group facilitation

  • Understanding of trauma and a commitment to non-judgemental, person-centred support

  • Ability to work collaboratively with families and professionals

  • Good organisational and communication skills

  • A creative and compassionate approach to supporting recovery
