Contract: Permanent / Full Time

The Role

We are seeking a Housing Management Assistant to join a dedicated team at a supported housing service in Lancaster. This role is central to the day-to-day running of the project, which provides short-term accommodation for people experiencing homelessness with complex needs.

Responsibilities include managing repairs, service charges, licences, and assured shorthold tenancies, while ensuring compliance with health and safety obligations. The role is delivered in a trauma-informed, person-centred way, supporting residents to achieve stability and move into independent living.

Essential Requirements

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • High attention to detail in housing records, service charges, and H&S compliance

  • Problem-solving skills to resolve maintenance or resident issues promptly

  • IT proficiency including databases and spreadsheets

  • Knowledge of housing legislation, licences, and assured shorthold tenancies

  • Team player with the ability to work independently

  • Professional approach to supporting vulnerable residents

  • Basic awareness of health and safety responsibilities

Desirable

  • Experience in supported housing or with vulnerable groups

  • Knowledge of housing benefits and welfare systems

  • Familiarity with housing management software

  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures

  • Basic property maintenance knowledge

  • Conflict resolution skills

  • Awareness of equality, diversity, and inclusion principles

  • First aid or health and safety training

  • Ability to produce accurate reports and maintain records
