Domestic Abuse Support Worker – Women’s and Children’s Refuge
Location
Burnley and Nelson
Salary
£12.71 per hour and above depending on experience
Sleep-in rate £55 per shift
Hours
Flexible shifts including days, evenings, nights and sleep-ins
Contract
Agency Bank and Casual
Essential Requirements
Minimum 6 months experience within health and social care
Previous experience supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse is highly desirable
Strong understanding of trauma informed practice
Confident supporting both women and children in crisis situations
Ability to manage challenging behaviour and emotionally complex cases
Excellent communication and safeguarding awareness
Full right to work in the UK
Due to the nature of the service, this role is open to female applicants only in line with the Equality Act 2010
The Role
You will be supporting women and children within a refuge setting who have experienced domestic abuse. This is a highly sensitive environment requiring a trauma informed and person centred approach at all times.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing emotional and practical support to residents
Maintaining a safe, secure and supportive environment
Supporting residents to rebuild confidence and independence
Working in line with safeguarding policies and reporting concerns appropriately
Completing accurate records and incident reports
Supporting with daily living tasks and routines within the refuge
Working collaboratively with external agencies and internal teams
