Temporary Casual Shifts
£12.50 to £13.50 per hour
We are recruiting Children’s Residential Support Workers to support children and young people within residential and respite settings across Lancashire and West Yorkshire. You will be working with children who present challenging behaviour, mental health needs and complex emotional needs, including risk of self harm.
This role is offered on a casual basis and is suitable for experienced children’s support workers.
The Role
You will provide safe, structured and supportive care to children and young people within residential environments, ensuring their wellbeing and safeguarding at all times.
Key responsibilities include
• Supporting children with challenging behaviour and emotional distress
• Managing and responding to suicidal ideation and self harm risks
• Carrying out ligature awareness and intervention procedures
• Providing emotional support and promoting positive routines
• Supporting children with mental health needs and learning disabilities
• Working within respite and residential services
• Maintaining a safe and structured environment
• Accurately recording incidents, behaviours and daily notes
• Working in line with safeguarding, health and safety and organisational policies
• Working closely with permanent staff and external professionals
Requirements
To be considered, you must have
• Previous experience working in children’s residential or respite settings
• Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour and mental health needs
• Up to date safeguarding training
• PMVA or equivalent behaviour management training
• First Aid training
• Knowledge of ligature risks and suicide prevention
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
• Strong communication skills and professional boundaries
