Rotherwood Education are currently seeking a Breakfast / Afterschool Club Assistant to join a well-established childcare provider based on the site of a primary school in Burnley. This is a fantastic part-time opportunity to support children during their wraparound care — before and after the school day — in a warm, welcoming setting.

 

Position Details:

  • Job Title: Breakfast / Afterschool Club Assistant
  • Location: Burnley
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Contract Type: Part-time, Ongoing (with potential to become permanent)
  • Working Hours: 
  • Morning: 7:30am – 9:00am
  • Afternoon: 3:00pm – 6:00pm
  • Monday - Friday (term-time only)
  • Hourly Rate: £12.21 – £14.00 per hour

 

About the Role:

As a Breakfast / Afterschool Club Assistant, you’ll be working as part of a small, dedicated team to deliver engaging and safe before- and after-school care for children aged 4–11. You’ll help plan and lead a range of creative, active, and play-based activities, support with snack times, and ensure a happy, secure environment for all children in your care.

This is a hands-on role that would suit someone enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate about working with children in a play-based setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising and engaging children during breakfast and afterschool sessions
  • Helping to plan and deliver a mix of structured and free-play activities
  • Preparing and serving healthy snacks, following food hygiene guidelines
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, cooperation, and social skills
  • Ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment at all times
  • Assisting with setup and tidying away of activities and resources
  • Following safeguarding and health & safety procedures
  • Reporting any concerns to the Club Manager or designated safeguarding lead

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with children in a childcare, school, or play setting
  • Be warm, approachable, and confident when interacting with children and parents
  • Work well as part of a team and independently when required
  • Be reliable, proactive, and committed to creating a positive environment
  • Have good knowledge of safeguarding and child welfare practices
  • Hold a valid Paediatric First Aid qualification (Essential)
  • Have good spoken and written English (UK standard)
