Job Description – Lathe Turner
Position Overview:
The Lathe Turner is responsible for producing precision-engineered components by operating manual and/or CNC lathes. This role requires the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work to tight tolerances, and operate a range of machinery in various sizes to meet production requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate manual and/or CNC lathes to manufacture high-quality components.
• Read, interpret, and understand engineering drawings, specifications, and job instructions.
• Work to fine tolerances, ensuring components meet required measurements and quality standards.
• Use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers, dial gauges, and bore gauges.
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds based on material and job requirements.
• Machine components on various sizes of lathes and related equipment.
• Inspect finished parts for accuracy and make adjustments as needed.
• Maintain equipment by performing basic maintenance and reporting faults.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised work area.
Skills & Requirements:
• Proven experience as a Lathe Turner or similar machining role.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Strong knowledge of machining practices and working to tight tolerances.
• Proficient in using measuring tools and inspection equipment.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or within a team environment.
Hours of work: 7.30 to 4.30 Monday to Thursday and Friday it’s 7.30am to 12.30.
Pay : £13.00 per hour
