We are currently recruiting an experienced and enthusiastic Functional Skills Tutor to join a supportive and forward-thinking training provider in Blackburn. This is a part-time role with structured hours across the week: Monday to Wednesday, 8:00am – 4:45pm and Thursday, 8:00am – 12:00pm.

About the Role:
As a Functional Skills English Tutor, you’ll be part of a collaborative and experienced team who value small group learning, autonomy in teaching, and genuine learner engagement. You’ll be responsible for delivering Functional Skills English lessons in a way that connects with learners, particularly through practical, workplace-relevant examples.
You’ll enjoy generous preparation and planning time, and the freedom to teach in a style that works best for you and your learners — all in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective Functional Skills English lessons to small groups
- Embed real-world, workplace-focused examples into lesson content
- Support learners to build confidence and progress towards their qualifications
- Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with a dedicated and experienced teaching team
The ideal candidate will:
- Specialise in Functional Skills English (Level 1 & 2)
- Be confident teaching diverse learners in a post-16 or adult education setting
- Be passionate about helping learners achieve and apply their skills practically
- Be proactive, flexible, and able to adapt lessons to suit different learning needs
- Ideally hold a recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent)
