Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Service
Location: Leyland
Salary: £35,000
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (shift pattern including days, evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays, sleep-ins and lone working)
Contract: Permanent
Essential Requirements
-
Experience of working with young people aged 11–18 in a residential social care setting
-
Previous supervisory experience
-
Strong knowledge of child safeguarding policies, child development and childcare legislation
-
Understanding of group living and strategies for managing challenging behaviour (including de-escalation)

At least Level 3 qualification in Children’s Social Care / Youth Work (or equivalent) and willingness to undertake further training
-
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce accurate written reports and records
-
Strong decision-making skills, able to act as a consistent role model for staff and young people
-
Full UK driving licence (preferably with no endorsements)
The Role
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day operation of a children’s residential home, ensuring the highest standards of care and positive outcomes for young people. Responsibilities include:

Assisting with staff management, recruitment, induction, training, performance, and shift allocation

Supporting young people with their physical, emotional and developmental needs in a safe, homely environment

Leading on care planning, risk assessments and safeguarding responsibilities

Supporting with budgets, financial procedures and administrative duties

Deputising in the absence of the Registered Manager and contributing to the on-call rota

Promoting professional development of staff through supervision, training, coaching and auditing

Building positive relationships with young people, families, schools, agencies and the wider community
