  • Train and mentor, an apprentice engineer, supporting their technical development.
  • Learn to operate, maintain, and eventually train others on legacy CNC machines (30+ years old) currently overseen by a soon-to-retire colleague.
  • Use SolidCam (within SolidWorks) for programming CNC jobs, prior experience advantageous.

  • Manage frequent small batch production runs with varying customer specifications.
  • Ensure work is completed to high quality standards, maintaining efficiency and accuracy.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, CAD data, and job specifications.

Key Requirements:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in programming, setting, and operating CNC machinery.
  • Hands-on experience with twin spindle, twin turret lathes (CMZ TTL66 or similar preferred).
  • Good understanding of small batch, bespoke production processes.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Strong measuring and inspection skills using a variety of tools.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and problem-solve effectively.

Desirable:

  • Experience with SolidCam and SolidWorks software.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn operation of legacy CNC machinery.
  • Previous experience in mentoring or supporting junior staff/apprentices.
  • Familiarity with CMM Measuring Machines.

Additional Information:

  • This role offers the opportunity to work in a varied, technically interesting environment producing complex, high-precision components.
  • On-the-job training will be provided for SolidCam, legacy machinery, and CMM operation where required.
