Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Behaviour Lead to work on a full-time basis in a supportive Primary school in the Nelson area.
This is a long-term role due to start in September 2026 or sooner, with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.

Salary: £168.80-£232.57 depending on experience
About the Role:
This is a non-teaching position and will be full time, focused on leading the development of behaviour support across school. The Headteacher will act as the strategic lead and has a clear vision for how this newly created role will work across the school to improve consistency, remove barriers to learning, and promote positive behaviour.
The successful candidate will also line manage a Learning Mentor, with both roles working together to support pupils and ensure effective behaviour systems are embedded across school.
The role will include:
- Delivering key behaviour messages and training to teachers and Teaching Assistants
- Working alongside teachers to develop targeted programmes of support for individual pupils
- Monitoring behaviour systems and procedures across school and identifying next steps to improve consistency
- Analysing behaviour data, including CPOMS records, and evaluating the impact of interventions and strategies
- Writing and reviewing Behaviour Support Plans
- Overseeing the implementation of the school’s behaviour curriculum
- Responding to behaviour incidents using restorative and reflective approaches
- Providing behaviour reports and updates for Governors
- Playing an active role within the school’s Behaviour Support Group
- Carrying out planned pupil check-ins and in-class visits to monitor progress and support
- Developing rewards, incentives and positive reinforcement systems
- Meeting with parents and carers, alongside class teachers, to review support plans and pupil progress
- Supporting the school in working towards a Behaviour Quality Mark over time
The main focus of the role will be to address low-level but persistent behaviours that disrupt learning in class, supporting staff to embed clear expectations and consistent approaches across the school.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Be a qualified teacher or experienced school-based professional with a strong understanding of behaviour support in primary education
- Have significant experience of working with children with behavioural, emotional or additional learning needs
- Have experience of developing and implementing behaviour support strategies across a school or within a pastoral/leadership role
- Be confident in coaching, guiding and delivering training to teaching and support staff
- Have experience of writing behaviour support plans and monitoring the impact of interventions
- Be confident in using restorative approaches and supporting pupils to regulate behaviour positively
- Have strong communication skills and the confidence to liaise effectively with staff, pupils, parents and external professionals
- Be organised, proactive and committed to driving consistency in behaviour systems across school
- Be committed to the safeguarding and wellbeing of children and young people
- Provide details of the last 2 references, covering the last 5 years’ work history
- Possess a current DBS check or be prepared to apply for one as part of your registration
- Be willing to complete a face-to-face registration and satisfy several checks
