Job Overview
To operate textile machinery at the direction of the Overlooker (Shift Supervisor) in a safe, competent manner, maximising efficiency and ensuring the quality of processed material is fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
General responsibilities:
- The safe operation of a textile machine or machines
- Own health and safety whilst operating machinery
- To ensure the machinery is kept clean to facilitate the fault free running of material and ensure all accessories such as guides, and rollers are maintained.
- To operate the machinery at optimum efficiency
- To ensure the minimum amount of waste is produced
- To ensure material produced is to specification and fit for purpose for further processing or customer delivery.

- Optimisation of machine capacity
- Creation of a safe work environment through good housekeeping
- To acquire multi-skilled attributes through training to promote the flexibility of our production workforce.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications:
- Good Health and Safety awareness of machine moving parts
- An understanding of Textile processing from Raw Material to Finished product
- An understanding of the quality of work required to deliver materials to product specification.
Essential Skills:
- Good dexterity level
- Be able to work independently or as part of a team
- Good practical Health and Safety awareness.
Knowledge:
- An understanding of textile processing and textile terminologies.
