About the Role:
As a Finance Assistant, you will be an integral part of the finance team, working closely with the Finance Manager to ensure smooth financial operations. Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Using Sage 200 for accounting operations, focusing on sales and purchase ledger.
- Conducting bank reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
- Assisting with payroll processing and ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
- Managing VAT returns and providing support in their accurate and timely processing.
- Handling information for payment runs and updating relevant records.
- Overseeing the maintenance of purchase and sales ledger for the organisation.
- Assisting with credit card reconciliation and ensuring accurate records.
- Supporting the processing of petty cash transactions.
- Assisting with the processing of sales invoices.
- Coordinating purchase orders and monitoring credit card expenditure.
- Creating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets to organise financial data effectively.
- Attending departmental meetings as required.
- Providing necessary support to the Head of Finance and Senior Management.
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate should possess the following skills and qualifications:
- Self-motivation and the ability to work well under pressure while producing accurate financial information.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, with the ability to manage data efficiently.
- Desirable: Familiarity with Sage; however, training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good computer literacy, including knowledge of relevant software applications.
- Effective negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
- Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload effectively.
- A team-oriented approach and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Business awareness and commercial acumen, with an understanding of the role's contribution to overall business goals.
- Flexibility to adjust working hours based on business demands.
