Rotherwood Recruitment are working in partnership with a reputable, innovative client based in Burnley. Due to expansion, they are now looking for a CNC Setter Operator to join their team.

You will ensure the manufacture of compliant components within the specific requirements of the organization and the customer. Contribute to developing, delivering and improving manufacturing processes, ensuring that machinery downtime is kept to a minimum. Responsible for improving quality, safety and reduce operating costs by contributing to business KPIs and ensure preventative actions are taken to maximize success.

Specific Responsibilities


>Demonstrate an understanding of

  • Standard Operating Procedures required for the specific task/job
  • Product quality requirements
  • Using engineering measuring instruments and techniques
  • OEE measure for performance and your impact on the figures present.

>Manufacture goods on a production line

  • CNC Program editing, adjusting & generation (Turn/Mill)
  • Setting of engineering processes on machine centers
  • Running machines to achieve production requirements to meet customer demand
  • Adjust machine controls and monitor the production process and outputs
  • Operate production line equipment such as conveyor line, hoists, airlines

>Ensure productions procedures are carried out effectively

  • Loading components onto appropriate machines
  • Checking surface conditions of material.
  • Unloading components
  • Visually inspect to ensure compliance to product quality requirements
  • Store components appropriately
  • Demonstrate an understanding of batch card disciplines.

>Where appropriate complete and contribute to general and task management.

  • Report any production blockers and contribute to solutions
  • Production program & tooling control
  • Assist with shop floor layout and cell designs
  • Identify fixture and tooling requirements/failures/repairs
  • Generating production documentation where necessary
  • Ensure product and process quality meets specifications required
  • Remove waste from the processes
  • Check and monitor machine lubricant and coolant levels
  • Report breakdowns
  • Report down time
  • Support continuous improvement, problem solving and process improvement activities
  • OEE data capture around production outputs and production downtime
  • Report production and process issues & providing technical support when requested
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities
  • Quality control management of own work
  • Support and contribute to process improvement activities
  • Contribute to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) targets
  • Undertake continuous training and development
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
  • Ensure all Environmental; Health & Safety Requirements are being adhered to.

Maintain and self-manage all housekeeping principles

  • Carry out cleaning and basic maintenance of work areas and machinery
  • 5S

Qualifications and Experience Levels:

  • GCSEs, Key Skills Level 1, NVQ Level 1, International Vocational Certificate (IVQ)
  • CNC Milling/Turning experience
  • Working in a fast-paced environment
  • Production and manufacturing processes and techniques
  • Problem solving techniques
