Keighley based business, Rotherwood 1976 Ltd, based on Cavendish St. are the new main sponsors of the world’s largest mascot race, the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice ‘Mascot Gold Cup’.
When staff at Rotherwood Recruitment heard about the opportunity they jumped at the chance to get involved and have recently signed a three year sponsorship deal replacing Foresters who had sponsored the event for 7 years. The partnership is a major financial boost to the care Manorlands hospice provides. It also guarantees the future of the event which has raised over £150,000 for Sue Ryder and is currently organised by the Manorlands Riddlesden and East Morton Support group.
Rotherwood have offices in Keighley and Burnley, servicing East Lancashire and West and North Yorkshire. Managing Director, Jo Pagdin stated ‘Rotherwood specialise in recruitment for all industrial/engineering and commercial sectors including education. We can also supply companies with DBS, reference and credit checks alongside air side security passes and outsourced payroll. We have chosen to support this event as Sue Ryder Manorlands hospice is a close cause to not only my heart but many other locals, including our staff, clients and candidates’.
Senior Fundraiser Andrew Wood who conceived the Mascot Gold Cup idea in 2006 was delighted to welcome Rotherwood on board. He said, “Dennis, Jo and the team are long term supporters of the care that Manorlands provides. But this is a big step up in terms of support even for them and we are very grateful indeed.” This week the team gathered together outside their Keighley headquarters for the launch of the 2017 event with their new mascot ‘RotheRoo’ who will be representing them in the big race.
The first Mascot Gold Cup sponsored by Rotherwood Recruitment will take place at Wetherby Races family race meeting on Sundays 23 April 2017. Treasurer of the Riddlesden and East Morton Manorlands support group Bob Tole said, “It will be a great day as always with discounted prices to the races for groups with a mascot and mascots available to loan for the day for organisations which don’t have one. Entry is now open at our website www.sueryder.org/mascotgoldcup .
