Description

Rotherwood Teachers are currently looking to recruit a Food Technology Teacher with experience and also vast amount of subject knowledge

The Role
To provide outstanding teaching and learning of Food Technology to secure high attainment of
students. To collaborate effectively with colleagues to design and deliver an engaging curriculum.
Key responsibilities
 Provide a safe, nurturing classroom and school environment that helps students to develop as
learners
 Consistently plan, resource and deliver lessons that allow stimulating and enjoyable learning
to take place
 Ensure that all students are given quality feedback in order to make rapid and sustained
progress
 Contribute to the development of sound literacy skills for all students
 Help to maintain/establish excellent standards of behaviour for learning across the academy
Outcomes and Activities
Teaching and Learning
 In discussion with the Director of Learning, plan and prepare engaging lessons based on agreed
schemes of work
 Teach engaging and effective lessons that motivate, inspire and improve student attainment
 Use regular assessments to monitor progress and set targets and determine appropriate
intervention
 Ensure that all students achieve at chronological age level or, if well below level, make
significant and continuing progress towards achieving at level
 Maintain regular and productive communication with parents, to report on progress,
sanctions and rewards and to relay other relevant information
 Maintain accurate student data that can be used to make teaching more effective
 In conjunction with the Director of Learning, identify the intervention needs of students and
appropriate strategies to improve attainment
 Help create a strong school community reflective of our key values of excellence, endeavour
and self-discipline
 Develop a culture that is committed to high achievement and where the learning of students
is our constant focus
 Work with students, staff and parents to promote consistently excellent behaviour for
learning and caring, respectful relationships
Other
 Undertake other responsibilities as directed by the Head of Department
 Undertake professional development and appraisal

 

To be considered for this role you must:
Possess a passion for teaching and pupil development
Demonstrate good classroom management
Hold a valid teaching qualification such as a PGCE, QTS or QTLS
Provide details of at least two referees covering the last 5 years' work history
Possess a current criminal record check (Enhanced DBS certificate that is registered with the online update service) or be prepared to apply for one as part of your registration
Be committed to the safeguarding of children and young people
Be willing to complete a face to face registration and satisfy several checks
