The awards ceremony took place in the stunning surroundings of Towneley Hall and beautiful grounds.
It was an evening of pride and celebration that acknowledged and rewarded the achievements of our local businesses and individuals (with a few surprises too!). The sponsorship funded event was organised by Burnley Council and the Burnley Bondholder Brand Scheme to promote Burnley’s business success and the borough’s economic infrastructure.
Burnley is changing and at the heart of this change are our businesses who fuel the local economy, whose success is linked to the success of Burnley.
It’s not just our businesses who are changing; Burnley is changing and repositioning itself to compete with larger development areas and prepare the way for economic growth. The borough is re-creating itself with new infrastructure and developments which will support the growth of existing firms and position itself as a viable base for new and relocating companies.
Our businesses back these changes and the growing Bondholder scheme, which comprises of a rapidly growing number of influential firms, are coming together to influence agendas and develop a united voice to share and showcase the town’s assets. The Business Awards will showcase the diversity of Burnley businesses and the innovative ways they are driving forward.
Burnley Council chief executive, Pam Smith said: “As a town we aim to be the best in the North West for economic growth, investing in huge strategic economic projects, and working side by side with the private sector to ensure more of the right people know about Burnley’s success; that Burnley is investment ready and open for business.”
Council Leader Mark Townsend said: “The council is working hard to promote the borough to attract new investment and jobs. The town is being recognised as a goto place for business, with a ‘can do’ approach to supporting businesses. Hailed as a town with the best growth prospects in Lancashire by Experian, and a top 5 north west boom town set to thrive by the Estates Gazette, businesses are cottoning to Burnley’s potential and the new 10 acre Burnley Bridge extension, and Vision Park development will open up new space for businesses to relocate to Burnley, adding to the towns state-of-the-art business infrastructure set to create many new jobs for Burnley in the next couple of years.”
The prestigious, sponsorship funded, Burnley Business Awards is organised by Burnley Council in partnership with the Burnley Bondholder Scheme to reward and celebrate the entrepreneurship and achievements of our local businesses. The council recognises that the success of our businesses is linked to the success of the town and puts business support at the heart of its delivery.
The event could not take place without the valued support of our sponsors and the Burnley Bondholder Scheme and we’d like to extend our huge thanks to them for their support.
Since the last awards ceremony in 2015, Burnley has been acknowledged for several new accolades: second in the UK for Digital Jobs Growth, cited as a North West Boom Town by the Estates Gazette, recognised as the best place in the UK to make a living; ranked consistently in the UK’s top 10 for private sector jobs growth. All achievements that wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of our local businesses.
The Business Awards gives us a fantastic platform from which to showcase, acknowledge and applaud our businesses and their achievements.
